Cortislim

There are so many kinds of weight loss supplements like Cortislim now being sold it's no wonder everyone is so confused. Before you purchase Cortislim there are two questions you should be asking yourself.

1. Does cortislim work?

2. Are there other products that will do the same thing but cost less?

Understand that I am one of the very few people in this world who actually succeeded in losing weight and keeping it off. I lost more than 40 pounds 6 years ago. To this day, I have not gain it back. I didn't succeed until after I learned and unlearned some things.

The Cortislim infomercial claims that you are fat because of excess cortisol in your body. The infomercial claims that this cortisol excess is due to the stress many of us have in our daily lives. I am here to say that much of this is true. First, stress does increase cortisol levels. Cortisol excess will cause the body to retain fat. Not only does cortisol excess cause us to hold on to fat it also causes us to eat more. This "double edge sword" often has a great deal to do with why so many of us are over weight.

The ingredients in Cortislim are as follows: Vitamin C, calcium, chromium, Cortiplex Blend (magnolia bark extract, beta-sitosterol aka Saw Palmetto, theanine), Leptiplex Blend (green tea extract, bitter orange peel extract), Insutrol Blend (banana leaf extract, vanadium).

Although I agree that increased levels of cortisol are associated with obesity that does not mean I believe that Cortislim will be effective in lowering cortisol levels. Their so called "cortiplex blend" contains no substance proven to do this.

That said there are some things in Cortislim that will help you to lose weight. Chromium has been used for years by people to help curb food cravings. Bitter orange extract has been used to increase metabolic rate thereby burning extra calories. But Vitamen C? Calcium? Green tea extract? What in the world do these substances have to do with weightloss or cortisol levels? I could find no evidence to support that any of these substances are even suspected of being helpful.

In conclusion I would venture to say that it is doubtful you will derive any benefit from Cortislim. Unfortuantely there supplements one can take that will be helpful in losing weight. They also cost a great deal less than Cortislim. Below are three substances I have personally found helpful.

Chromium is pivotal in sugar metabolism. More than 90 percent of Americans are deficient in this crucial trace mineral. When your body exhibits low levels of Chromium, craving for sugar increases, and so do the numbers on your bathroom scale!

According to Dr. Robert Atkins, not only does chromium reduce your cravings for sugar, it also increases your total lean body mass, which also speeds up your metabolism. It helps prevent the loss of lean muscle mass if you intentionally slash your caloric intake, and revs up your calorie-burning results from exercising.

Refined foods and loss of topsoil through poor agricultural practices reduces the level of chromium. Low chromium levels can increase blood sugar and raise triglyceride (a type of fat) and cholesterol levels. Chromium supplementation may help reduce body fat and increase muscle tissue.

Chromium enables insulin to bind to receptors, so that glucose can enter the cell to be metabolized. It controls appetite, cravings for food and the desire for sweets.

Chitosan is a polysaccharide derived from chitin found in shells of shrimp and other shellfish. The positively charged molecule is used in the U.S. as a dietary supplement and is marketed for its ability to increase HDL cholesterol, enhance immune systems and increase fat elimination from the digestive tract. It is capable of absorbing approximately 10 to 12 times its weight in fat.

Phaseous Vulgaris is an extract of the Northern White Kidney Bean. In clinical studies it has been shown to clearly inhibit the production and activity of alpha amylase, the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of starch into sugar. Human studies show that Phaseous Vulgaris can effectively inhibit intestinal amylase activity, thereby preventing dietary starch digestion and the corresponding after-meal rise in insulin concentration. Phaseous Vulgaris attaches to the carbohydrate molecule at precisely the point at which alpha-amylase normally would split the compound to yield dextrins. The complex carbohydrate is not broken down into absorbable sugars and simply passes out of the body undigested.
