We are in deep trouble!

Why is this site called "H57 Hoodia"..... because thats the file my nephew gave me to use for my web site. I have no idea where he got the name H57 Hoodia!.

I've always thought of myself as an optimist however events over the last few years have changed my point of view. I've now consider myself neither an optimist nor a pessimist. I now consider myself a realist.

I believe the good old U.S.A. is headed for some very tough times. Tougher than anything I have seen in my lifetime (I am 45 years old). Below are my reasons.

1. The federal government is more than 45 trillion in debt and the debt continues to grow. Since essentially "we" are the government than that means that each in every one of us is also in debt. I calculate the typical American family to owe close to $400,000! Do the math yourself and you will see what I am talking about. Take roughly 100 million families and divide into 45 trillion dollars.

2. We have a corrupt government. How else could we have acculmualted 45 trillion of debt?

3. Most of our big corporations have underfunded pension plans. Pension plans that eventually will require the fed to step in to save them causing the defecit to rise even further.

4. We have the worst public school system in the industrialized world yet spend the most! Don't believe me? Take a walk in any major Amercian city. Find a couple of local 14 year olds. Now ask them how many starts are on the flag and also ask them "what's 7 times 7". You will see what I mean. But that doesn't stop local givernments from raising property taxes to the point that many elderly people have to sell the house they have worked so hard for because they can no longer afford the property taxes.

5. Our medical system is corrupt. Take the latest Viox debacle. Do you realize a better med for treating arthritis has and continues to be simple ibuprofen? Viox was never brought to market because it was better than ibuprofen it was brought to market because it was suppose to be easier on the stomach. (Ibuprofen was always notorius for causing ulcers). Years after it was prescribed we find out it was actually just as hard on ones stomach as Ibuprofen! Ibuprofen did have one advantage though...it thinned the blood. In other words, when taken regularly, it will actually reduce the incidence of heart attack and stroke. Vioxx actually increases your risk of heart attack and stroke! So let's see here. The drug companies knew Ibuprofen was better at treating arthritis and no harder on your stomach than Vioxx. But that didn't stop the drug reps from pushing it to doctors and the Amercian public. Think for a second how many millions of dollars in heath care costs could have been saved if doctors simply prescribed Ibuprofen and then carefully monitored patients for the potential gastrointestinal bleeding! Think how many people would still be alive because unlike Viox, which increases ones chance for a heart attack or stroke, Ibuprofen reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke!

6. We are drowning in a beauracracy of over regulation.

7. The Amercian people are more unhealthy than ever before. Take a good look at the latest obesity figures. We are fatter than ever!

8. The Amercian people have become an immoral people. In general less and less people are concerned with living a good moral life. Instead many have become only interested in having as much fun as possible and "screw everyone else".

9. We have alienated much of the rest of the world. The latest debacle in Iraq is eveidence of this. Why are we there? No clear cut reason has ever been given.

Well, thanks for letting me rant! H57 Hoodia signing off!
